Narrow Web Inkjet Press For High Speed Data
Imaging Technology International (ITI) will be showing a new version of its Digital Web Press (DWP) at Ipex.
Imaging Technology International (ITI) will be showing a new version of its Digital Web Press (DWP) at Ipex.
The press incorporates Xaar's latest greyscale printheads - the Omnidot 760 GS8.
The machine's appearance at Ipex 2006 will be the first public demonstration of fixed head, single pass printing using this printhead technology, said ITI.
The DWP is a narrow web inkjet production system for high speed printing of digital data on flexible substrates, such as label stock or film.
The DWP is said to provide affordable, high volume digital production, enabling variable length runs of any given image, just-in-time production, and the ability to support changing images on the fly.
At Ipex, ITI will be showing the DWP on the Xaar stand (hall 9 stand 09-E50) printing full colour high quality images, 54mm wide ono label stock with Omnidot 760 GS8 greyscale printheads.
To make ink selection flexible, the DWP incorporates optional ultraviolet (UV), infrared (IR) or hot air ink curing systems.
During the show, the DWP will be running with a UV curing system and Sunjet Crystal UOX inks.
The DWP features an anodised aluminium and stainless steel construction.
The substrate-handling system is claimed to minimise web weave and speed variations to maximise image quality.
It is designed for continuous production schedules with minimal operator intervention and features a customisable colour touch-screen application interface, said ITI.
Mark Alexander, Xaar's group marketing manager, said: "We are delighted to have worked with ITI to bring this demonstration of single pass printing with our Omnidot 760 printhead technology to Ipex.
At the show Xaar will be focusing on showing how our printhead technology can be applied to a very wide array of applications.
With ITI's Digital Web Press and our latest greyscale printheads we are able to demonstrate how high quality single pass printing can be achieved in label printing." Peter Addington, Xaar's business development manager and Debbie Thorp, ITI's vice president of EMEA operations will present a label printing case study at the Flexible Packaging Centre of Excellence in hall 1, stand 01-E70 on April 4.
