Flatbed Digital Printer Reaches New Zealand
Printech will be the venue for the first showing in New Zealand of the Spyder 320 flatbed printer from Inca Digital Printers.
The Spyder 320+white is the latest addition to Inca's Spyder 320 range and was developed to meet strong demand from the market for a digital printer that can handle white printing more easily and more flexibly and at higher quality than previously possible, said Inca.
The company said that it has experienced an exceptional response to the new machine following its announcement and demonstration of samples at Ipex last April, with it accounting for 30 per cent of orders taken worldwide in the last four months.
The first public demonstrations of the Spyder 320+white take place within three weeks of each other at Sign and Display in Tokyo (Japan), Visual Impact in Sydney (Australia) and SGIA in the USA.

Inca Launches New Spyder Inkjet Printer
With an addition to its line up of flatbed inkjet printers Inca Digital Printers has launched its Spyder 150 60"x40" printer.
Inca said that white inkjet printing has not been easy in the past with users restricted to buying a printer that only underprinted or overprinted, whilst it involved complex file set-up, and created the potential for mis-registration when printing multi-layers with disappointing ink opacity.
Inca claimed it has overcome those issues with its first entry in to digital 'white'.
The company's vacuum flatbed and highly accurate registration system has allowed it to develop the new Inca Spyder 320+ white model with the capability of printing white ink as an overprint, underprint, or spot in single, multiple or graduated layers to provide flexibility with one machine.
The options can be selected within the Wasatch RIP with no special file set up required.
In addition, Inca said it can produce a white image from a four-colour file to reduce studio time significantly.
Unlike some white inks that can show a yellow hue, Fujifilm Sericol Uvijet white ink is bright white with a high level of opacity and adhesion, added the company.
Heather Kendle, director of marketing at Inca Digital, said: "The quality and flexibility this machine can provide has certainly appealed to many companies in addition to our existing users of four or six-colour Spyder 320s, many of which are planning to add the white option in a field upgrade." One of the first companies to invest in a Spyder 320+white digital inkjet printer in the US is Outdoor Dimensions in Anaheim, California.
The company designs, manufactures and installs indoor sales office displays and outdoor signs, flags, banners and graphics.
Doug Raver, the design and research and development manager at Outdoor Dimensions, said: "It has made a huge impact to our business by cutting the labour needed for each job, cutting ink and materials costs significantly, and improving production turn-around times.
The Spyder's unique ability to print on a multitude of materials allows us to print on any substrate that we want and without the need for laminating or special finishing." He added: "Using the new white feature we are now able to print vivid backlit display graphics without worrying about the quality of the touchy laminating process the expensive films and transparencies require, which has been totally eliminated." Aimed at the mid-range market and claimed by Inca to be competitively priced, the Spyder 320+white has a claimed small footprint, moving print carriage and a full-size 126" x 63" static bed with highly accurate pin registration, sharp image resolution and crisp text.
Its productivity rate is impressive, with it claimed to print at over 860 square feet per hour, with optimum performance at 600 square feet per hour.
Inca added that flexibility has contributed to the success of the Spyder 320 range, which includes a four-colour, a six-colour and a low cost model, as well as the new white version.
The modular design of the range allows users to modify the specification of their Inca Spyder printer to suit changing business needs or growth.
