8-Colour Flatbed UV Printer FESPA Digital Debut
Inca Digital will demonstrate its latest eight-colour Spyder 320-8 large format, digital flatbed UV printer at the FESPA Digital exhibition in April.
The Spyder 320-8, which features the new Uvijet Ultratone colour set and white ink, will be demonstrated by Inca Digital's distributor, Fujifilm Sericol.
Inca Digital said that the Spyder 320-8 Series provides printers with a greater choice of ink colours, including white, as well as being able to match a wider range of special colours than other printers.
With eight ink modules, each consisting of four inkjet heads, the Spyder 320-8 Series is claimed to maximise the colour gamut achievable from any other UV inkjet printer that is currently available.
Users can choose the normal four process colour inks (CMYK) and, when required, the ability to achieve more accurate spot colours.
Different combinations of the Ultratone colour set, which is patent pending, are said to allow the ink system to be tailored to the specific user's needs.
Inca Digital said that, in essence, colour has three characteristics - lightness, chroma and hue.
The addition of the Ultratone ink system will produce an improved colour gamut and customer beta-testing has confirmed the biggest differences are seen with darker colours, oranges, reds and greens.
Bill Baxter, Inca Digital's managing director, said: "The continued progress of inkjet technology is as reliant on the development of ink as it is on machine innovations.
Fujifilm Sericol has created a fantastic range of inks and the addition of the Ultratone colours has improved colour reproduction and dramatically improved the colour gamut for printing spot colours." He added that the Spyder 320's colour management flexibility and registration, file set-up with the Wasatch RIP and white ink opacity make it an adaptable system for the display printer producing a range of close viewing POS, external displays, backlit and frontlit displays and graphics.
The Spyder 320 system uses an Inca print module jetting small 28 picolitre drops.
Its claimed productivity rate, printing is more than 60 square metres per hour (645 square feet per hour) is said to provide optimum 55 square metres per hour (592 square feet per hour).
A variety of configurations are available - a four-colour, a six-colour and an entry level model, as well as a white version.
Inca added that the modular approach of the Spyder range allows users to modify the specification of their Spyder printer to suit changing business needs, or growth and opens up new markets in additional applications.
Aimed at the mid-range market, the company said that the Spyder 320-8 Series features a moving print carriage and a full-size 3.2m x 1.6m (126-inch x 63-inch) static vacuum bed with pin registration, sharp image resolution and crisp text.
The Fujifilm Sericol Uvijet Ultratone ink system is designed to print on to almost anything from paper and board to a range of plastics using Inca's controlled droplet formation and accuracy.
