Flint Increases Heatset and Coldset Strength
Flint Ink of the USA has acquired the Swiss Sicpa Group's worldwide heatset and coldset ink business, whilst Sicpa has taken on Flint Ink's worldwide business for security inks used on currency.
According to INX president and chief executive officer, Rick Clendenning, a key focus of the new enterprise will be smoothing commercial and packaging printers' expansion in to the digital market, enabling them to 'hit the ground running' in terms of digital products, print quality and productivity.
Clendenning said: "TDI is a win-win-win combination for customers, both short- and long-term.
For one, Triangle Digital is an established, recognised leader in the digital print arena, with considerable technical know-how, digital parts and servicing, as well as ink products.

New Zealand Ink Plant Capacity Increased
Flint Ink has completed an upgrade of its ink plant in Auckland, New Zealand.
It's an excellent fit with our own INX International range and customer base.
Thirdly, Sakata Inx's global reach and raw material sourcing, its R and D capabilities and track record in developing all types of ink, bode well for future product advances with more digital ink systems precisely engineered for this market - even as new digital press technologies evolve." Brad Kisner, the president of Triangle Digital, commented: "It's easy to understand many commercial printers' interest in participating in the digital market's rapid growth.
But it's also important to understand what's driving that growth.
The rapid increase of niche market products, customised and tightly targeted promotions - resulting in shorter print runs and faster turn-around - make streamlined digital systems vital to accessing this business." Kisner explained: "Although this brings printers a new (and typically, higher margin) revenue stream, the investment is still considerable.
And it's not as simple as just installing a digital press and starting to run jobs.
This is where the combined, practical pressroom know-how that TDI offers can provide a critical edge." Clendenning continued: "Current INX customers appreciate the easy, direct access we give them, not only to sales reps, but to application specialists, product development and technical support personnel.
Readily available, multiple-discipline assistance can be crucial to making new operations productive and profitable, quickly." And he added: "Going forward, key people in INX's commercial printing group will be working closely with Triangle Digital specialists, strengthening not only digital application expertise, but mutual insights involving both processes.
While it's vital for printers to have application-specific know-how at their fingertips, it is also important for 'the left hand to know what the right hand is doing' and vice versa." He said that the know-how and servicing capability will prove to be invaluable as printers develop and solidify both types of business in their operations.
