Entry forms for the student and schools Starpack Awards 2007, organised by IOP: The Packaging Society, are now available.

Entry forms for the student and schools Starpack Awards 2007, organised by IOP: The Packaging Society, are now available.

Designed to attract the cream of the UK's young people to a career in packaging design and technology, the student and school Starpack Awards are said to play an important role in fostering talent within the nation's schools, colleges and universities.

The prize ceremony will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum on May 15 2007 during the UK's largest packaging event, the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition 2007.

Briefs for the student awards include Marks and Spencer and Korsnas Frovi - an Easter egg carton pack; Environmentally friendly delicatessen pack for Marks and Spencer and WRAP (the Waste and Resources Action Programme); Nestle and MPMA (Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association) Award for premium metal gift packaging for chocolates, and other categories.

Briefs for the school awards are: Pro Carton Award for back to school cartonboard pack; BPI (British Polythene Industries) - salad Growing Plastic Pack, and a 'SMART' materials research challenge from IOM3 (the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining).

Businesses sponsoring the awards include: Nestle, Coors Brewers, Britvic Soft Drinks and Marks and Spencer; BPI (British Polythene Industries), DS Smith Packaging, Korsnas Frovi, Rockware Glass, Smurfit Kappa UK, and Tigerprint.

Other sponsors include the Can Makers, IOM3 (Institute of Minerals and Mining), MPMA (Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association), Pro Carton, WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), BPI (British Polythene Industries), and IOM3.
