The IOP: The Packaging Society, which organises the Starpack awards, has requested that special emphasis is to be placed on sustainable packaging and consumer convenience issues across all entry categories.
Gordon Stewart, the head of PIABC and IOP: The Packaging Society, commented: "The consumer needs reassurance that sustainable packaging issues are top priority and all parts of the packaging chain must demonstrate how they are investigating sustainable sourcing of materials.
The incorporation of recycled content is important to ensure that, even when used in combination, materials can be recycled or composted and that they are using the minimal amount of material possible," The awards ceremony and dinner will take place on May 15 at the National Motorcycle Museum Birmingham during the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition 2007.
