J and G Environmental has joined the UK's leading environmental protection companies after being awarded a Pollution Prevention and Control Permit by the Government's Environment Agency.

J and G Environmental has joined the UK's leading environmental protection companies after being awarded a Pollution Prevention and Control Permit by the Government's Environment Agency.

The permit covers printing industry's waste management company's headquarters site in Blandford, Dorset, where waste from hundreds of UK printers is processed and recycled.

It demonstrates that the required systems are in place to prevent and control pollution.

J and G said it is the first company handling printers' waste to successfully apply for the permit in a European Union scheme designed to achieve high levels of environmental protection at industrial sites by preventing or reducing harmful air, water and land emissions.

Permit holders are expected to use best available techniques to minimise the environmental impact of their activities, including the storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste, which is a major part of J and G's work for print companies.

The company already operates an ISO 14001-approved environmental management system and holds a Queen's Award for Sustainable Development.
