Printers Still Need To Register Hazardous Waste
With the deadline less than a month away, many UK printers have failed to register with the Environment Agency under the European Union's tough new hazardous waste regulations.
Cambridge University Press's environment manager, Rob Marshall, said the company recognised that it had a responsibility to the environment and that safe disposal and recovery of its waste was a key element in its efforts to continually improve environmental performance.
Marshall explained: "J and G has an excellent track record of doing what it does to the highest standards.
The company will ensure that we make the most of waste recycling opportunities, whilst at the same time minimising the amount sent to landfill.
J and G will also ensure we are kept fully informed of changing waste legislation." He added: "Our policy is to regularly assess the impact on the environment of our operations and effective waste management is essential to our aim of reducing any impact to the absolute minimum." J and G Environmental's customer service manager, Richard Spreadbury, said: "As is to be expected from one of the world's leading names in printing and publishing, Cambridge University Press takes a highly responsible attitude towards its waste disposal, which was in-line with an increasingly environmentally-conscious printing industry." He added that J and G's waste management service recycles 90 per cent of waste it collects.
