J Jays Seals Pre-Press Deal For New Scientist
J Jays has been awarded the pre-press contract for New Scientist, Reed Business Information's (RBI) weekly title.
Rob Wittmaack, sales support manager at Future Publishing, commented: "We had been using J Jays for pre-press services since June 2003 and there was no question as to whether we would renew the contract when the time came.
We're now also outsourcing the management of some of our copy chasing to J Jays, in particular markets where there are high levels of page make-up." He continued: "We believe that in those cases one central point of contact offers our customers a complete and effective, hands on service.
Adverts that are booked with one of our sales staff are now inputted in to our booking system, which links directly into J Jays' system.
They will then chase the copy and obtain the advertisement files from the client, manage the proofing process and send the finished page to us, on time and in the correct format." Alan Halls, the managing director of J Jays, said: "Copy chasing is a time-intensive but essential element of the advertisement production process and one which publishers are sometimes reluctant to outsource due to its importance to the customer relationship.
The fact that Future Publishing is putting its faith in J Jays to undertake this role is a positive endorsement of our working relationship.".
