Flexo And Letterpress Plates Reduce Dot
Gain
New photopolymer flexo and letterpress plates from Jet Europe are claimed to provide improved highlight quality, reduced dot-gain and improved plate durability.
Jet Europe's CTP-LAMS plates are said to offer improved tonal gradation because of the plate material's bonding properties and what is described as ultra-thin, semi-transparent ablation mask layer is claimed to provide elasticity, remaining crack-free when flexed Also, according to the company, the material is less affected by oxygen during exposure, which reduces shrinkage and, in turn, results in more predictable dot results, especially in the highlight areas

Ink Viscometer Fits Between Pump And Press
The newest addition to the Brookfield range of process viscometers is the AST100 viscosity sensor.
Printers can, therefore, work with lower 'bump-up' values, of between four per cent and five per cent.
Jet Europe added that the plate offers tonal range results from 0.8 per cent to 99 per cent and improved gradation, for example, for halftone reproduction.
The inherent material qualities and the reduced influence of oxygen result in dots with better symmetry and smoother profiles to provide dots with a more resilient structure to withstand high-speed printing and cleaning whilst reducing the chance of ink build-up, it is claimed.
Said to be suitable for all ink-types, the plates are available in 1.14mm (HWD) and 1.70 mm (HD) thickness, and 900mm x 1,200mm, 1,067mm x 1,524mm and 1,270mm x 2,032mm formats.
Hardness values range from 68 degress to 70 degrees shore A.
