KBA North America said that it drew huge crowds and stole the show at Printfest 2006, a three-day southern California (USA) printing conference and expo.

KBA said that it sold three Genius 52 UV 20" presses on the show floor and gathered leads from companies that are interested in purchasing KBA press models.

Chris Travis, KBA technology manager, said: "Printfest 2006 was a huge success for KBA.

Our stand was a magnet for visitors who were looking to grow their businesses.

During the three days of the show, we produced lenticular jobs on our Genius 52 UV press.

It absolutely blew them away." Travis noted that the majority of printers drawn to the show were from California, many of which were already in the two-colour market and seeking to move in to the four-colour and five-colour segment.

After seeing the Genius 52 produce conventional and lenticular jobs one day, the printers would return the following day with a cheque to give to KBA as a deposit for the press, said the company.

Travis added: "We were the only press manufacturer at the show to demonstrate a small-footprint, one-man operation high-quality press that can print thin paper up to 32pt board stock, as well as plastic and lenticular stock.

The Genius 52 UV five-colour press is a model that can easily produce a printer's every-day work as well as specialty jobs with high dollar amounts.

Printers were amazed by the productivity, flexibility, quality and efficiency of the press." And he continued: "With its ultra-short make-ready of less than 10 sheets - based on the Gravuflow keyless inking system - and make-ready times of less than five minutes, the Genius 52 UV press is the perfect tool for the short run commercial, packaging and specialty market." Another highlight of the show, according to KBA, was the print samples that KBA distributed from its 20" press model to its 64" large format presses.
