Heavy stock printer helps digital print firm grow

An Intec Printing Solutions product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 11, 2011

The purchase of an Intec PFS200 heavy stock printer and finishing unit has led to the formation of a successful digital printing business.

Northern Print Solutions (NPS) in Team Valley, Gateshead, UK, is a start-up printing company, which has quickly attracted 50 customers, including many well-known football clubs, car dealerships and property companies.

NPS's business development manager, Craig Daley, said: 'We have to sign confidentiality agreements so we can't disclose who our famous customers are.

The Intec PFS200 has enabled us to start up our business.

I cannot fault the quality with it - it does what it says on the tin.

Daley, who founded the company in April, now forecasts for his business to generate a GBP250,000 turnover by the end of the year.

He explained: 'We bought the PFS200 to handle thick board and business cards.

We have produced eight to 12 page booklets for village halls.

It creases, folds and staples to create a complete pamphlet.

The PFS200 produces hundreds of business cards using 350gsm stock and above.

The digital print market has taken off up here.

With traditional litho people have to commit to large numbers of print - 500 units or more - but with digital we can print on demand so customers can buy smaller numbers such as 120 business cards, for instance.

Daley believes that the stale UK economy is an ideal arena for entrepreneurs and added: 'I think it's a good time to set up in business.

Everyone is doom and gloom but if you come in with a new approach, it's buzzing.

Northern Print Solutions currently focuses on the north of England but it plans to cover the whole of the country as its develops.
