Konica Minolta Develops Document Imaging Market

In his new role Kelly will develop a sales division for Konica Minolta to market the company's document imaging systems to the commercial digital print sector.

In the company's opinion, the quality and cost of digital print means it is now a cost effective alternative to short-run litho printing for commercial printers and copy shops and Konica Minolta intends to capture a significant share of the emerging market, for which Kelly will recruit a sales team for that purpose.

Konica Minolta recently launched the Bizhub Pro 1050 production print system with a claimed maximum throughput of 6,300 impressions an hour (105 prints per minute) for the same market segment and further production print systems are scheduled for launch this year, added the company.

Kelly began his career in the document imaging market in 1989 with the Xerox Corporation.

Prior to joining Konica Minolta he was national strategic sales manager covering high volume and enterprise account divisions, as well as the UK Government and Ministry of Defence, for Danka.

Alongside colour, high volume production print is taking off as a major market sector with digital print beginning to replace costly and time consuming offset litho short-run production.
