Multi-Function Imaging Systems' High Productivity

Konica Minolta Business Solutions has launched the Bizhub 600 and Bizhub 750 multi-function document imaging systems.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions has launched the Bizhub 600 and Bizhub 750 multi-function document imaging systems enhancing the company's product range in the mid-volume to high-volume system range.

The Bizhub 600 and Bizhub 750 have claimed A4 print speeds of 60 and 75 pages per minute (ppm) respectively, with A3 print speeds of 35ppm for the Bizhub 600 and 43ppm for the Bizhub 750.

All other specifications for the two new systems are the same.

The systems have been designed to provide high productivity and feature copy and scan (Scan-to-SMB desktop, Scan-to-Email, Scan-to-FTP) as standard, with optional printing and faxing.

The Bizhub 600 and 750 also offer a selection of on-line print finishing options and a generous paper supply.

Their User Box feature supports each of the devices' functions - copy, print and scan.

With a total of 1,000 user boxes and the ability to store up to 3,000 documents, users can manage individual User Boxes, create public and private User Boxes, assign passwords and restrict the number of files stored, said the company.

Due to the importance of document security and document management the new Bizhubs offer user authentication with NDS capability to protect a user job by prohibiting its modification or deletion.

With user authentication, it is also possible to enable or disable each user's access to the device based on function - copy, print, scan, fax and hold job control.

As the Bizhubs feature Konica Minolta's Bizhub OP architecture, users benefit from a shortened learning curve due to the common look and feel amongst current and future Konica Minolta multi-function systems, said the company.

The major components of Bizhub OP are the architecture and the Emperon Print System.

The architecture removes the need for separate functional boards through the utilisation of common system software that drives all functions - copy, print, scan and fax, added Konica Minolta.

The Bizhub 600 and 750's optional IC-202 Image Controller is driven by Bizhub OP's Emperon Print System.

Emperon allows for full control of the printing and finishing options, and provides for total integration of document output management with an intuitive user interface.

The optional IC-202 includes PCL6 and PostScript Level 3.

The optional hard disk drive supports scan-to-hard drive and scan-to-box functions.

Featuring a claimed monthly duty cycle of 300,000 impressions and a maximum paper capacity of 7,600 sheets, the new Bizhubs can process media ranging from A6 to A3+ in size and from 50gsm to 200gsm in weight.

With claimed 600 dots per inch (dpi) by 600dpi print and copy resolution (1,200dpi by 600dpi emulation) and 256 greyscale levels, the Bizhub 600 and 750 are said to produce clear text, sharp edges and smooth halftones.

They use Konica Minolta Simitri Polymerised Toner with smaller, smoother, more uniform toner particles for more even distribution, fine line definition, and solid fills.

Production-quality finishing options designed to handle the variety of in-house printing needs, including 50/100-sheet stapling, tri-folding, z-folding, two-hole and four-hole punching, saddle-stitch booklet making (up to 20 sheets for 80-page booklets) and post-sheet insertion, with the ability to add pre-printed covers and inserts to documents.

An optional 33.6Kbps, Super G3 analogue fax module will also be available for the Bizhub 600 and 750.

The optional fax function includes mono transmission, JBIG data compression, up to 600 by 600 fax transmit resolution, PC faxing and document memory of 512Mb shared with the engine.

Also available for the Bizhubs is Pagescope, Konica Minolta's suite of integrated software applications and utilities that allow businesses to save time, reduce costs and increase productivity, said the company.

Pagescope is said to deliver networked information flow from the desktop, enabling businesses to manage their Bizhub documents and devices more effectively through a single inter-operative system for increased efficiency.
