The Bizhub Pro C6500 is said to be suitable for heavy-duty production, and is claimed to be capable of handling up to 200,000 A4 sheets per month with an output capacity of up to 3,900 pages per hour (65 pages per minute) in full colour and mono.

The machine will have its first world-wide public appearance on April 4 at IPEX 2006 in Birmingham.

It will be on show with all other Bizhub Pro systems.

Konica Minolta said the machine can cope with media weights of up to 300 gsm, whilst providing a range of printing choices with equal capability for printing on paper, card, or coated stock.

The Bizhub Pro C6500 can be configured according to the needs of nearly any business to produce a wide variety of output, such as brochures, promotional materials or any kind of document.

To give companies even more choice, the Bizhub Pro C6500 is available with Creo print on-demand systems, as well as Fiery professional controllers, said Konica Minolta.

It is also available as a printer only model.

The operating system is common across the other devices in the Bizhub range.

The full colour display panel has an arrangement to allow access to all functions clearly and easily, said the company.

The system comes with Konica Minolta's new generation polymerised toner Simitri-HD (high definition).

Consumption of Simitri-HD is also significantly lower than conventional toner, so savings can be made through replacing consumables less frequently, claimed the company.

Olaf Lorenz, Konica Minolta's general manager of product marketing in Europe, said: "In addition to our very successful mono production printing system Bizhub PRO 1050, we are now also able to offer a colour production system with the same flexible output options.
