The Bizhub C252 is claimed to print or copy at 25 pages per minute in either mono or full colour so customers no longer have to purchase separate devices for mono and colour output.

The Bizhub C252 enables office workgroups to benefit from the Bizhub concept by allowing them to digitally share and distribute documents with complete security, said Konica Minolta.

The Bizhub C252's User Box feature with Pagescope Box Operator software supports each of the device's functions - print, copy, scan and fax.

With a total of 1,000 user boxes users can securely manage individual boxes, create public and private user boxes, assign passwords and restrict the number of files stored, it is claimed.

Konica Minolta added that for added productivity and convenience, the Bizhub C252 offers enhanced finishing options with sorting, stapling and saddle stitching, as well as four hole punching capabilities.

Users can create up to 60 page colour booklets fully automatically with the system.

An optional Super G3 fax module means the Bizhub C252 can offer fax functions including analogue and digital fax transmission, i-Fax and SIP fax.

Between similarly equipped Bizhub devices IP fax communication in colour is possible, added the company.

Receive to box and email forward function with instant notice allows sharing of faxes via email and prevents unnecessary print jobs without additional cost as distribution occurs via the internet.

SIP is a protocol supporting voice and data transmission via Voice over IP (VoIP), allowing possible transmission in fax in SMTP (email) format.

As the Bizhub C252 features Konica Minolta's Bizhub open platform (OP) architecture, users are said to benefit from a common look and feel amongst current and future Konica Minolta Bizhub multifunction systems.

The major components of the Bizhub OP are the Bizhub Architecture and the Emperon-driven print system.

The Bizhub architecture provides common system software that drives all functions - print, scan, copy and fax.

The Bizhub C252 Image Controller is driven by the Emperon Print System, which allows for full control of the system's printing and finishing options and provides for total integration of document output management with an 'intuitive' user interface.

The image controller supports PCL5e/6 and PostScript Level 3 printing.

Banners for promotional use up to 1,200mm (approximately four feet) in length and 297mm wide can be printed in colour by the Bizhub C252.

Posters up to twice A0 size can also be generated by splitting the image over several printed pages, for example a twice A0 poster can be made up from 16 A3 sheets, said Konica Minolta.

The Bizhub C252 is also said to benefit from using Konica Minolta's patented Simitri HD polymerised toner with smaller, smoother, more uniform toner particles for more even distribution, better fine line definition and better solid fills, claimed Konica Minolta.

As Simitri HD toner is said to need no oil for fusing, it produces natural-looking, low-gloss documents that can be written on and to which sticky notes or stamps can be attached.

Simitri HD is also claimed to be more environmentally, with reduced carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide emissions generated in the manufacturing process.

Commenting on the launch of the Bizhub C252, John Howard, head of marketing for Konica Minolta (UK) said: "With the Biizhub C252 we have a product that will build on our considerable success in the market for true colour systems.

The Bizhub C252 offers customers mono and colour output at full production speed for little more than they might expect to pay for a mono-only system.

The ability to print in colour together with the printer, copier and scanner functions as standard, as well as the fax and finishing options makes the Bizhub C252 a certain winner and will cement Konica Minolta's place as the market leader for UK colour systems.".
