New Colour Laser Print System's Multi-Functions
Konica Minolta Printing Solutions has launched its latest colour laser multifunction device, the Magicolor 2490MF.
Konica Minolta Printing Solutions has launched its latest colour laser multifunction device, the Magicolor 2490MF.
Claimed to be suitable for small and medium-sized offices, the Magicolor 2490MF is said to combine all office requirements - print, copy, scan and fax, as well as Pictbridge, the camera direct photo print option - in one machine.
With an internal network interface, it fits in to corporate networks, or it can be used as a combined printer-copier for workgroups, added the company.
Oscar Rook, marketing director at Konica Minolta Printing Solutions UK, said: "Building on the success of the award-winning Magicolor 2480MF, the new colour laser multifunctional Magicolor 2490MF not only offers all key office features and functions but also includes the direct photo print option of Pictbridge, proven to be invaluable to many SMEs requiring fast and high quality photo prints in their daily business." The Magicolor 2490MF is claimed to enable users to print professional colour prints, copy, scan, fax documents and photos in laser quality.
With claimed 2400 dots per inch (dpi) x 600dpi print resolution and Konica Minolta's Simitri polymerised toner and automatic image density control it is said to generate consistent colours, crisp text, detailed graphics, smooth halftones, and sharp photographs on a range of substrates.
The company claimed that it prints at up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) in mono and five ppm in colour as well as copying at 12 copies per minute (cpm) in mono and five cpm in colour.
It also has 128MB of RAM.
Documents and photos are said to be scanned in 24-bit colour and sent directly as an email via the network to a variety of recipients in any location without using a PC.
By using Paperport from Scansoft, originals can be scanned up to the maximum document size of legal (A4+) at a resolution of 600dpi and then edited and saved in a variety of formats such as PDF, JPEG or TIFF.
Scanning an A4 original takes 9.4 seconds in mono and 23 seconds in colour, it is claimed.
The scanner supports WIA and TWAIN-protocols.
The Magicolor 2490MF provides Super G3 fax capability, sending and receiving faxes at up to 33.6 Kbps.
The Pictbridge interface is said to enable users to print photographs directly from their Pictbridge-compliant digital cameras.
Photographs can be rotated directly from the camera and adapted to fit the desired print format.
Another option is to print an overview of all photographs in thumbnail format from the camera's memory.
Konica Minolta added that now customers do not need to have single function machines in different locations.
The Magicolor 2490MF includes a 10/100baseT Ethernet and plug and play USB 2.0, together with a claimed duty cycle of up to 35,000 prints a month.
It is supported by Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Me and 98SE operating systems.
The Magicolor 2490MF comes with pre-installed supplies (a 4,500 page black and 1,500 page colour toners) and auto-install software.
The control panel puts all of the necessary functions at the user's fingertips and the standard automatic document feeder is said to provide time-saving, unattended copying and scanning.
The system is also said to support a range of media types, including standard paper, glossy and thick stock, transparencies, postcards, laser quality labels and photographic media.
An optional duplexer provides two-sided documents, as well as two-sided copies from one-sided originals.
A multi-purpose input tray of 200 sheets can be expanded with an optional input tray of 500 sheets.
The Magicolor 2490MF is available through the Konica Minolta network of sales partners and comes with an on-site warranty of one year as standard, which can be extended to a maximum of five years.
It is provided with a pre-installed set of supplies, including cyan, magenta, yellow and black toner cartridges.
