Konica Minolta has unveiled the Bizhub C550, multi-functional peripheral (MFP) that is claimed to be the smallest in its class.

Konica Minolta has unveiled the Bizhub C550, multi-functional peripheral (MFP) that is claimed to be the smallest in its class.

Its design features a full colour, wide display, tilting touch screen that can be moved to suit a desired position.

The screen features thumbnails of each job in the user box and the new information line in white runs the length and width of the machine showing paper levels, machine status and data processing, giving complete visibility of all print jobs.

Konica Minolta said that the Bizhub C550 features the latest thermo technology, known as Induction Fusing, which keeps the heat stable and an induction heat transfer function provides more accurate and constant heating.

As a result, the machine consumes less power and the device warms up in 30 seconds, which means less time spent waiting for printouts.

As part of the Bizhub C550's open platform (OP) architecture, it features the new and improved Emperon controller, providing a unified driver for the print and scan controller, as well as straight forward network integration, high stability and powerful performance, claimed the company.

That ensures the ease and speed of setting up complex print jobs.

The Bizhub C550 also incorporates a finger vein authentication scanner for advanced security and the new Pagescope Enterprise suite for server-based accounting and authentication management.

The new Bizhub also supports colour output with Konica Minolta's polymerised toner, Simitri HD.

The new Simitri high-definition (HD) toner uses a lower fusing temperature, offers better media flexibility and has a smaller particle size, producing higher quality prints, claimed the company.

Konica Minolta product manager Lars Moderow said: "The Bizhub C550 builds on the already successful Bizhub range by adding cutting-edge design to award-winning functions and form.

This MFP is stylish in its own right and provides businesses with expert printing technology.

The launch of the Bizhub C550 cements Konica Minolta as the most innovative MFP manufacturer in terms of technology and design." The Bizhub C550 is the first device to be launched with the company's new design.

Konica Minolta added that later this year, it will launch other new products in the range - the Bizhub C451 and the Bizhub C650.
