The IC-304 is described by Konica Minolta as a tailor-made print controller that takes advantage of the qualities of the company's Simitri HD colour polymerised toner.
The new server is claimed to offer a superior set of colour settings and professional colour-management tools.
Those tools, such as the Spot Color Editor, are said to be easy to use and effective in providing consistent, accurate colour and image quality.
Built-in JDF capabilities also offer connectivity with graphic arts and JDF workflows.
Konica Minolta customers are said to now be able to incorporate digital printing in to their existing JDF-based, web-to-print systems, or any other workflow configuration.

Urgent jobs, short runs and proofs, for example, can be re-routed from offset, to a digital workflow.
The print controller connects to Kodak Brisquw and Prinergy workflow management systems and to other third party workflow vendors via the PODS workflow partnership programme.
The architecture of the IC-304 Print Controller was designed to maximise production simplicity and productivity for variable data printing (VDP) said Konica Minolta.
The same tools and flows are used for static and variable jobs assuring zero ramp-up time for operators moving to VDP production.
Post RIP imposition, last minute colour changes, preview and pre-flight, APR (automatic picture replacement) and OPI are available and identical for static and variable data jobs.
The IC-304 Print Controller supports all VDP formats, including PPML, Optimised PDF, Optimised PostScript and Creo VPS (Variable Print Specifications).
The PODS VDP partnership programme ensures that output from 25 VDP system suppliers is compliant with the latest version of the Creo VPS format.
Users can choose any of the authoring tools supplied by those partners and are assured that they can immediately start creating full-colour, personalised documents, said Konica Minolta. Request a free brochure from Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK ...
