The Bizhub 40P laser printer for individual users or workgroups, with a claimed printing speed of 43 pages per minute (ppm) meets continuous demand for large quantities of monochrome documents.
That is according to Konica Minolta, which said that the Bizhub 40P has a first page out speed of 9.5 seconds, which means users do not have to wait for one-off prints and the gigabit Ethernet USB 2.0 connection ensures the fast download of large graphics files Print resolution is said to be 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) x 1,200dpi with text, graphics and half-tones, whilst the system has the latest Konica Minolta EmperonM controller, 500 MHz processing and 128Mb standard memory

The Bizhub 40P is said to be able to print directly from graphic files (PDF, TIFF, JPEG) straight from a USB memory stick, without PC intervention (HDD or Compactflash card required).
When used as a workgroup printer, Konica Minolta said that the secure control of prints to the Bizhub 40P can be managed with a secure printing option.
By first setting an alphanumerical password on the user's computer, printing is delayed until the code is entered again on the front panel of the Bizhub 40P.
Confidential print output can then be collected.
With job accounting for workgroups details of every print job are tracked so departmental billings can be calculated and costs controlled.
Standard paper feed is a 550 sheet cassette and 150 sheet multi-purpose tray.
With an optional 1,100 page lower feed drawer the maximum capacity is 1,800 pages, allowing the Bizhub 40P to tackle large volume print jobs with a variety of paper types up to 216gsm.
The system is also said to be able to produce special documents, such as invoices, packing lists, envelopes and labels.
The Bizhub 40P is available with an optional 500-sheet offset stacker and an optional duplexer unit, allowing environmentally-friendly double-sided printing, which also saves on paper costs, it is claimed.
Richard Necus, Konica Minolta's group product manager, said: "Market demand for high-speed mono printers continues to be strong and the Bizhub 40P meets this need.
