Two new Komori presses, a 10-colour Lithrone S29H Perfector and a five-colour Lithrone S29H, will help Matthews the Printers increase client service and quality when they are installed this summer.
"The new Lithrone LS640C will be one of the most highly specified B1 sheet-fed presses in the UK, providing us with an extremely competitive press that combines the shortest possible make-readies with excellent productivity and quality," said Harrison production director Mike French.
"From the tests we have done the wastage on the new LS640C is incredibly small and with print runs ever shorter, even amongst leading brands, our pressroom will be as cost efficient as possible to handle this type of work.
We'll also be in the best position to meet the tightest of deadlines demanded in the industry.
We've been using Komori machines for 12 years and they have proven conclusively their durability and reliability during this time, particularly when you consider we operate our presses around the clock," he added.
Harrison Packaging specialises in the food and health care sectors and complements its printing facilities with comprehensive pre-press and finishing departments.
The company moved to new 35,000 square foot premises two years ago and has since increased its turnover by 75%.
"During the last three years we've invested some ?5m in order to stay at the forefront of packaging technology.
That has included additional gluing plus cutting and creasing equipment.
We're currently extending the factory to 50,000 square feet and the new Komori press adds the finishing touches to a plant that is already one of the most modern packaging production facilities in Europe," he commented.
