Komori won an order at Drupa 2004 from Belfast print firm GPS Colour Graphics, which has invested £3m in new pre-press, press and finishing equipment The company chose the Lithrone LS440 with coater partly because of its ability to be cost effective on runs as low as a few hundred as well as many thousands, as managing director Derek Bell explained

"We have a great deal of experience of Komori presses and they combine high productivity and quality with a reliability that is unmatched.

Our Lithrone L428 completed more than 35 million impressions within the first two years in operation without any problems at all while our Lithrone L540, which was installed only last September, has already completed 12 million impressions without a hitch.

We've found that we now need another B1 press and so are delighted to have placed an order for a four-colour Lithrone LS440," commented Bell.

The latest B1 press from Komori offers the same printing speed as B2 Lithrone machines, while the high level of automation results in an incredibly fast make-ready claimed Komori.

"Printers need to be flexible in today's market and Komori allows us to provide that versatility to our customers.

Whether it's the ability to make-ready quickly and thereby reduce wastage and costs, accurately control colour and quality throughout the run or to print on a wide range of light and heavy stock, the Komori Lithrone LS440 will give us all of these benefits," said Bell.
