Commercial printer Print Room in Bradford has ordered a Komori Lithrone L526 as part of a £500,000 investment in equipment and a new 4,000 square foot factory.

Commercial printer Print Room in Bradford has ordered a Komori Lithrone L526 as part of a £500,000 investment in equipment and a new 4,000 square foot factory, which the company will move into in September.

Print Room has also purchased a local repro house, Studio Techniques, which the company said would allow it to provide comprehensive pre-press facilities.

"We are extremely pleased with the results we have been achieving on our existing Lithrone L426," said managing director of Print Room Patrick Whitworth, who founded the company three years ago.

"However, as the company and customer base grows, it is essential to meet client demands by maintaining fast turnarounds and high quality prints.

What we needed was a press that allowed us to produce a wider variety of work by printing either five-colours or four-colours and a seal in one pass," he added.

Whitworth said that he has been so impressed with the level of service he has received from Komori and the success of his Lithrone L426, that the decision to go back to Komori was an easy one.

"I am a Komori man at heart and what particularly appeals to me is that, unlike most other manufacturers, the Komori team is always keen to cater for the specific needs of the customer and tailor the press accordingly.

When you look at the marketplace today, it is more vital than ever to be cost effective at every stage.

For example, as the main format of our work is SRA2 it would not be beneficial to invest in a 28-inch press and the return on investment will be much faster with the 26-inch Lithrone L526," observed Whitworth.

The new Komori press will be operated on double shifts when the company moves into its new premises.

Print Room is hoping that the L526 will place it in an ideal position to move into new market sectors and Whitworth intends to take on additional staff later in the year as a direct result.
