A new five-colour Lithrone L528 from Komori is helping Lowestoft (UK) firm Richardson Printing win a wide range of additional high-quality work.

The company said that the installation of the Komori press has had an immediate effect on turn-around times and the amount of printed material that can be produced at the site.

Richardson managing director, John Richardson, said: "We've operated a Komori Sprint for many years alongside other presses and have always been impressed with Komori's response and its after-sales care, which is superb.

I trained as a litho operator, so appreciate the quality of the Lithrone series and the ease of use of the latest models.

As we specialise in B2 work for design, advertising agencies and trade work for other printers, quality is paramount.

The Lithrone L528 is our first five-colour press so, as well as being able to take on five-colour jobs, the facility of in-line sealing allows us to turn work around much faster, while the Lithrone's quick make-ready keeps wastage to a minimum." He continued to say that one of the first jobs on the new Lithrone L528 was an order for folders printed on 500 micron stock, which went through without a problem.

Since then the company has put a variety of work on the press, from book jackets to magazines, and the Lithrone L528 had produced everything with first class results.

The new Lithrone L528 completes a GBP 500,000 investment by Richardson Printing, which included the installation of two-colour press to meet its high quality stationery needs.

The company has also added B1 laminating facilities, which are provided as a trade service.

Richardson Printing, which employs 30 people, has a sister company in nearby Halesworth called Micropress, which handles all its pre-press and B1 printing requirements, as well as providing stitching, trimming and perfect binding services.

Both facilities complement each other well, said John Richardson, and the addition of the new Lithrone L528 will help enhance the reputation for good service and quality that both companies enjoy, he believes.
