Two Komori Presses To Increase Quality And Service
Two new Komori presses, a 10-colour Lithrone S29H Perfector and a five-colour Lithrone S29H, will help Matthews the Printers increase client service and quality when they are installed this summer.
The presses have performed superbly, with the older Lithrone L528 printing more than 50 million impressions without the need to call out a Komori engineer once.
"But we reached a point where we were completely up to capacity and Komori suggested that we consider a long perfector.
To be frank, I needed to be convinced that long perfectors can provide the level of quality that we can achieve, on a wide range of stock, with our five-colour machines.

Komori Presses Win Emission Testing Approval
Komori has been awarded three BG CE Emission Tested certificates by The Berufsgenossenschaft Druck und Papierverarbeitung at Drupa 2008.
After seeing demonstrations of 10-colour Lithrones at various sites around the UK, I was left with no doubt at the capability of the L1028P to produce first class results at high speed," said Morris.
Craig Morris formed Ortek 14 years ago, having completed a degree in printing and packaging technology at West Herts College, which he says has stood him in good stead to build up a company providing general commercial print services to advertising agencies and companies throughout the UK.
The company moved to new premises 18 months ago, when it took delivery of its second Lithrone, and has since invested heavily in pre-press and finishing equipment.
"The Lithrone L1028P represents a big decision for us and we wouldn't be going back to Komori if we were not totally happy with the reliability, quality and productivity of the Lithrones and the after-sales care from Komori.
The new 10-colour arrives in July, replacing our original five-colour Lithrone.
We already operate our latest Lithrone L528C in a CIP3 environment and the make-ready times we achieve on this press are phenomenal.
The combination of a 10-colour perfector and five-colour with coater will give us enormous flexibility to provide fast turn-around of B2 quality work.
For example, the ability of the L528C to handle boxboard up to 600 microns enables us to successfully serve the packaging market, while the ability to print both sides in one pass with either a sealer or spot colour will allow us to move into new sectors, where fast turn-around perfecting is vital," added Morris.
