Kerry-based trade and commercial printer Walsh Colour Print has just installed a new B1 Komori Lithrone L840P perfector, having reached full capacity on its existing three Komori presses.

The new machine has been installed not only to handle general commercial work but also to enable the company to service the growing magazine and book markets with greater deal speed and efficiency.

'With the new addition of the 40 inch press we will now be able to double productivity in half the time,' said managing director Tony Walsh.

'It will also mean that we can free some capacity on our existing Komori Lithrones to cater to our rapidly growing customer base.

'I have had my eye on the Komori eight-colour B1 perfecting press since drupa 2000 when I first saw what it was capable of.

'I was extremely impressed then and I have very high expectations now of what it can do for the company'.

Walsh Colour Print installed a ten-colour 28 inch Komori perfector last year to complement its two existing 26 inch four-colour Lithrones.

'The flexibility of the L1028P Lithrone has meant that the company has gained a significant amount of business from both existing and new customers'.

'Since the L1028P was installed we have been producing in one pass four-over-four work with a sealer each side, or five, six and seven-colour work plus a sealer.

'With this facility, jobs can be printed faster and finished more quickly because they do not need to be left to dry before the next process.

'Run lengths vary from 500 to 500,000 and even when perfecting we achieve speeds of well over 12,000 sph on stock ranging from 90 to 350gsm.

'The high level of automation also means that makereadies are extremely quick.

'Our Komori presses fit perfectly with the ethos of the company, namely that we produce top quality print matched with an extremely quick turnover at competitive prices.

'Investing in new technology is key to growing a business and it is down to the success of our Komori printers that we have been able to double the company's turnover in the past couple of years and stay at the top of our game'.
