Printerman, one of Spain's leading web offset houses, has doubled its production capacity following the installation of a 16-page Komori System 38S press.

Printerman, one of Spain's leading web offset houses, has doubled its production capacity following the installation of a 16-page Komori System 38S press.

The company invested in the new web offset press in order to compete in the high-quality, short run commercial, catalogue and magazine markets.

Having been so impressed with its existing Komori System 40 press, Printerman was quick to invest in the latest Komori model, which would more effectively handle the growing demand in the Spanish market for higher pagination, short run work.

Printerman managing director Jose Ramon Jimenez said: "The reason we opted for the five-unit Komori System 38S is predominantly down to its high print quality and the extremely quick makereadies it achieves.

No other 16-page web offset press on the market can compete with the Komori System 38S in terms of make-ready speed.

The new model has significantly increased our production capacity and efficiency, particularly on shorter runs.

This has resulted in a positive response from our customers, as they now receive a faster turn-around." Komori claimed that the System 38S is the most successful 16-page web offset press in Europe, offering what the company said is the world's fastest change-over time.

It achieves that through fully automated one-step register adjustment, colour matching, folding adjustments and plate changing.

Jimenez added: "Investing in another Komori press seemed like a natural progression.

As a long standing Komori customer, we knew that we could expect the excellent service, training and support that we have received over the years.

Since the installation of the System 38S, we have been operating the press continuously 24 hours-a-day and have been achieving speeds of 50,000 copies per hour on paper stock ranging from 45gsm to 120gsm." He added that run lengths can vary between 5,000 and hundreds of thousands of copies.

He further explained: "We remain extremely competitive, with exceptionally fast make-readies of 15 minutes for each initial new job, and just five minutes for subsequent sections.

The fifth unit allows us to add a spot colour or a second black if needed.".
