Komori said that it will demonstrate more printing units at Ipex than it has done before, including multicolour sheet and web perfecting presses producing a variety of value-added creative applications.
The new Lithrone LS29 series has been developed in response to market trends for a sophisticated, highly automated multicolour B2 press in both straight and perfecting configurations, said the company.
It added that it has taken technological innovations from its B1 Lithrone LS40 Series (launched four years ago) and incorporated them in to the LS29 series.

New Lithrone Press With Fast Change-Over At Drupa
Komori has launched its latest LS40 press in the form of the claimed 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) Lithrone SX40 at the Drupa 2008 exhibition.
With claimed fast make-ready, the LS29 features the highest level of automation Komori has offered to the B2 market, including a completely new, fully-automatic, plate changing system as standard.
Two LS29 presses will be demonstrating added-value printing at Ipex.
One will be a five-colour LS529 with coater, utilising the fifth unit for machine sealing and the aqueous coater for gloss varnish. There will also be a 10-colour LS1029P perfector demonstrating four-over-four work changing through a variety of stocks, including cover board, with sealing on the fifth and tenth units.
The B2 Lithrone LS29 series includes a new fully automatic plate changing system offered for the first time on a Komori B2 press, which is said to change four plates in 150 seconds, enabling printers to handle even the shortest run lengths very competitively.
It is also said to have a 12,000 sheets per hour (sph) start-up speed, reaching 16,000sph production speed in a few seconds.
The press is also claimed to have a six-minute change-over from one job to the next, whilst it features three double-size perfecting cylinders that support sheet transfer at full speed on any stock and at full speed.
Skeleton transfer cylinders provide maximum flexibility across a range of stock weights, added the company.
New ecology features reduce consumption of energy and materials, whilst air guide sheet transfer reduces the risk of marking and scuffing on any weight of sheet and at high ink coverage levels.
The Lithrone LS29 Series will be available worldwide from April.
Komori commented that at Ipex, the efficiency and added value print performance of perfecting will come under the spotlight in the company's 'perfecting zones' with the launch of the first S version of its double-deck Lithrone press, the B1 Lithrone LS40SP, in addition to the B2 Lithrone LS29P.
The company said that high productivity has always been the key feature of the double-deck Lithrone SP dedicated perfector, which is said to be up to three times as productive as a straight single-sided press.
At Ipex, Komori will add technology from its Lithrone S40 Series to create the new Lithrone LS 40SP, which is said to combine the print quality of sheet-fed presses with the productivity of web presses.
In addition to its space-saving footprint, the new Lithrone S40SP improves production efficiency and provides cost and waste reductions.
The B1 Lithrone S40SP series features double stacked units to make for a highly compact press, with five-minute fully automated plate changing across 10 units, and with minimal gripper changes, together with an air guided sheet path to maximise speed and quality, said Komori.
The press's identical plate positioning simplifies pre-press preparation and increases production flexibility and its delivery belt transport system matches press speed to deliver the sheets from the last printing unit to delivery pile and so eliminate, it claimed.
The Lithrone LS 40SP will be available worldwide after Ipex 2006.
In addition to the new Lithrone 10-colour 540SP Super Perfector, Komori's Ipex 'perfecting zones' will also feature the eight-colour Lithrone LS 840P producing a range of perfecting work, including high ink coverage.
The four-colour SPICA 429P, designed primarily for new entrants to the quality B2 four colour market, where flexibility is a pre-requisite, will also be demonstrated.
The four-colour, two-over-two SPICA is claimed by Komori to have taken the international market by storm since its launch at Drupa 04.
It features automation for plate-changing, cylinder cleaning and job pre-setting, and its small footprint and integrated main console over the delivery are additional features.
The press includes the new Komori PDM Print Data Manager, which will be launched at Ipex, for downloading ink profile and job ticketing information.
To demonstrate what Komori descirbed as its presses' flexible open architecture, all six machines at Ipex, from the 10-colour double-deck LS40SP to the four-colour entry level SPICA B2 perfector, will operate within fully JDF-enabled workflows and communicate with multiple third party suppliers to demonstrate the benefits of fully integrated print production.
Also at Ipex, the company will integrate with more complementary suppliers than at any other event.
The Komori Dotnet zone will feature Hagen, Hiflex and Tharstern management information systems (MIS) operating bi-directional JDF-based press management via the Komori K-station.
Also integrated in to Dotnet are Screen and Kodak pre-press software, digital proofing, Komori K-Color-Profiling press calibration and Komori PDC-SII - the company's new spectral densitometer.
Finishing partners integrated in the workflow on the Komori stand and throughout the show will include Freidheim, Horizion and Muller Martini.
Live production jobs will be a key feature of the stand, including 10,000 copies of a magazine produced and printed daily on the new 10-colour Lithrone LS540SP double deck perfector launched at the show.
Visitors can track all aspects of the production workflow, from creation and imposition, to process-less platemaking, job management and finishing, added the company.
