Turn-Round

Indigo Press has just installed a second Komori press to deal with its need for increased capacity.

Indigo Press has just installed a second Komori press to deal with its need for increased capacity The B2 Lithrone NL 528 replaces a SRA2 Lithrone L 526 and joins another resident Komori five-colour 28" press

The first job scheduled for Indigo's new press is a 132-page, full colour catalogue for locally based client, Vanguard Fixings; a job which the company has been handling from early conception stages.

Tony Swift, Indigo's marketing director, commented: "This is a very large job for Indigo and a massive step up for our customer so to celebrate we have arranged for local soccer hero Matthew Le Tissier to press the start button.

There is a real buzz on the shop floor and we have found the new Komori to be a real morale booster, something which has only been added to by Matt's visit." Indigo Press made the decision to be a Komori house when purchasing the latest press and the company's production director John Ellis commented: "The installation was the best we have ever experienced.

The process was managed very professionally, all the i's were dotted and t's crossed." Indigo's managing director, Richard Docherty, said: "A noticeable trend in the industry is the increasing time constraints - customers are demanding work more quickly whilst still expecting improved quality and excellent service for the lowest possible price.

We have invested in the new B2 press in response to this demand for increased capacity." He continued: "We can run more jobs daily, more efficiently due to shorter make-ready times and the increased automation of press controls.

We have been very happy with the older NL 528 and now we have two B2 presses taking the same sized plates, job change-overs will be much easier." The Southampton (UK) design and printing firm started with a small, second hand, single colour press in a garage and 16 years on the company employs 26 staff, turns over GBP2m and has experienced a 20 per cent annual growth rate, which it puts down to its selling techniques, together with its enthusiasm and willingness to embrace technological advances.

Indigo's customer base includes BAT, Vosper Thorneycroft and Ocean FM, as well as London Southbank and Southampton Universities. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
