B and B Press, a Rotherham (UK) printer, has grown its business and reputation for almost half a century in partnership with Sakurai.

The Yorkshire firm became the Japanese manufacturer's number one client in the UK.

However, B and B placed its first order for a Komori Lithrone, B2, five colour press and coater when it visited the Ipex 2006 exhibition.

Barry Liversidge, B and B's managing director, said: "Today's clients are demanding higher standards from their printers in all aspects of quality, reliability, speed of service, customer care and environmental awareness, so moving up to a Komori is in line with our copntinuing development plans.

They included ISO certification to 9001 and 14001, and major investment in our pre-press and finishing departments, together with an extensive training programme for our entire workforce." He went on to say that he and his team had been persuaded to buy from Komori by its reputation, perceived quality and renowned reliability, and although the investment was not price driven there had been an obvious benefit in being able to buy a 28" press rather than the dearer 29" versions available from other manufacturers.

Liversidge explained: "It was not an easy decision to step back from a lifelong relationship but I am certain the Komori will help us achieve our long term goals in a time frame more in tune with today's high pressure marketplace and I am already drawing up my next two year investment plan with Komori in mind.".
