Spica's Oust Heidelberg Presses, Boost Production
One of Komori's newly-released five-colour Spica 29P 29-inch presses has joined a Lithrone S29 in ousting Heidelberg Speedmaster 72 presses at C K Litho.
The LS 529 and coater replaces a five-colour Speedmaster 72 and the company plans to upgrade its remaining press to another Komori LS 529 in the future.
C K Litho's workload is a mixture of direct end user work and clients.
Mike King, C K Lithp's managing director, said: "Komori was ahead in every department.
We were impressed by every aspect of the print test; the inking up of sheets for example - within 20 sheets they were ready to fit with Komori's KHS.
The automatic plate changing means the press is simple to operate and needs only one operator, thereby reducing costs.
Space was also an issue, which the LS 529 fulfilled." CK Litho intends to move towards a new area of print in the forthcoming months, and is keen to emphasise the added value that the new press will present.
King commented: "We will benefit from the added value of coating and are promoting the idea of spot coating as an alternative to UV.
Customers are now commonly requesting this and the sheets dry amazingly quickly on this press.
With the faster turn-around we can price from a 50 poster run to 100,000 leaflets." The future looks bright for C K Litho as it makes plans to improve the finishing line, utilise JDF and enter into e-commerce.
King added: "We can do the work of two presses on this one and run for 24 hours. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
When we replace our existing Speedmaster with another Komori LS 529 in the near future we will increase productivity massively by having the extra capacity allowance.".
