Survival

Komori UK's 'Workshop 06' event is aimed at printers who are feeling the pressure of having to increase productivity whilst reducing costs to remain competitive The UK arm of the Japanese press manufacturer said that the topic of survival will be top of the agenda at the three-day workshop at Komori's showroom in September and organisers Friedheim, Komori, Muller Martini and Print Finance will show visitors ways to survive the turbulent climate

As well as witnessing a range of pre-press, press and finishing equipment in a workshop environment, delegates will receive advice on reducing the cost of ownership, said Komori.

Paul Coggins, managing director of Print Finance, said: "When printers are making an investment, they sometimes base their decision on only a few key facts, such as price and suitability to existing work.

Calculating the lifetime cost of the equipment is very important and should include productivity, manning implications, finance, and the impact upon other departments." He added: "Buyers also need to consider if the finishing equipment can keep up with the new press and all those questions are sometimes overlooked.

At Workshop 06 experts will be on hand to discuss the financial implications of any investment." Following last year's event, a range of pre-press, press and finishing equipment will be producing print jobs at Komori's Leeds showroom.

A B1 10-colour Komori Lithrone S1040 Perfector and five-colour B2 Lithrone S529 will be on display to demonstrate how different suppliers' printing and finishing equipment can be integrated and the options available at every stage of the production process.

Friedheim International will be demonstrating a selection of finishing equipment and Muller Martini will complete the bindery with its Primaplus with Stream Feeder.

JDF pre-press technology will complete the workflow system.

Workshop 06 will run from September 26-28, with an early breakfast demonstration on September 27.

Nine companies are supporting the organisers and will exhibit alongside each other, including Baldwin, Dupont, Fuji, Nordson, Paper Co, Screen, Technotrans, Tharstern and Weko. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
