Komori Web Press Record - 3 Jobs In 13 Minutes
Komori claimed a new world record when one of its System 38S web presses completed three different jobs under 13 minutes during a demonstration at Drupa 2008.
Presses Cut Material Waste And Improve Quality
In the one pass high productivity theatres on Komori's stand at Drupa 2008, visitors will see the Lithone S440SP and S840P presses and System 38S 16-page web system featuring new control systems.
Five months after Europrint placed the order with Komori, both presses were delivered and installed and have just entered full operation.
The event will be marked by a celebration at what is now described as the Czech Republic's most modern and up to date production facilities.
The publishing industry in the Czech Republic lies behind the company's strategy to upgrade its production capabilities and expand its capacity.
Robert Glenda, a Europrint director and the manager on the Komori project, said: "Magazines comprise the majority of our work, with a certain amount of catalogues and brochures and our business is expanding rapidly.
We print up to 50 titles a month ranging in run length from 15,000 to 70,000 copies each and 24 - 96 paginations.
Consequently we needed the best web presses available that could provide a high level of automation, speed, rapid turn-around and deliver the very best quality." The Komori presses at Europrint replace an existing old web press and are complemented by three offset presses (eight-colour, four-colour and two-colour).
Both Komori presses feature automatic plate changing for rapid job switch over, plus automatic wash up and in-line folder.
Glenda explained: "The ability to implement a variety of folding options enables us to offer our customers a huge amount of flexibility," explained Glenda.
The integrated KHS-AI (Advanced Interface) control system provides one-step register adjustment, colour matching and fold adjustment to shorten make-ready times and minimise paper waste, he added.
Robert Glenda likes the fact that Europrint is a Komori web pioneer in the Czech Republic and he continued: "Our investment in these impressive presses has attracted a lot of attention from the market. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
There is dual benefit - not only are have they expanded our capacity significantly but they are attracting more business too.".
