According to the Paarl Print's managing director, Mike Ehret, the presses were selected after extensive research to meet the requirements of its customers.

He commented: "Our clients demand excellent quality with fast efficient turn-around to meet their deadlines.

The new presses are capable of high gloss printing, as well as heavy ink loadings and with their enhanced quality features and capacity, they will enable us to turn-around exceptional quality jobs faster.

That is exactly what our clients' need and we are ideally positioned at Paarl Print to provide that." Paarl Print's new six-colour Komori Lithrone S640 press with coater will be the first to arrive at the end of February and it will be operational by mid-March.

It will be followed by an eight-colour Lithrone S840 Perfector at the end of March with a five-colour Lithrone S540 with coater arriving in February 2008.

Wayne Barker, Paarl Print's sheetfed divisional manager, commented that the three new Komori presses will replace three existing MAN Roland sheetfed presses, adding to Paarl Print's capacity and capability.

Barker said: "High quality, reliable production and quick turn-around times is what it is about at Paarl Print.

The machines are equipped with the latest colour control equipment that will ensure colour management from the first to the last sheet printed on a particular job.

The fact that the first machine is a six-colour press opens the market for speciality coatings, further enhancing our clients' products.

An application specialist from Komori UK will be visiting us to assist with the installation of the presses and the integration of the supplied software." He added that Paarl Print staff will be trained on the operation of the presses with on-site follow up training by Komori specialists.

Paarl Print CTP manager, Wim Verkuyl, said: "We are eagerly awaiting the new equipment, which will offer us the back-up we need.

The new Screen Platerite 8800 will enable us to comfortably supply plates to all our presses.

We are also installing Prinergy workflow with Insite remote proofing, which will afford clients the benefit of pre-approving their RIPped files on the Internet, resulting in a dramatic turn-around time, giving us the competitive edge in the market." Neil Sutton, managing director of Komori UK, commented: "The order is a result of several overseas field visits and print trials by senior management from both Paarl and Komori and we are thrilled that Paarl Print has chosen Komori as a partner.

We completely support Paarl's passion and commitment for unparalleled quality and going forward, Komori will work closely with the company to provide specialist training and back-up to ensure it is fulfilled."
