Komori Press Answers Need For B2 Competitiveness
The ability to compete in the B2 five-colour print market will be available to the UK's Lithograve, which has installed a five-colour Komori Lithrone S29 press.
Our printers are experienced operators and happy to use Komori machines." He added: "This industry is so competitive that printers really need to be on the ball to be in with a chance of securing work and must be able to offer an extremely fast turn-around.
The new press has only been running for a month and we are already benefiting from the increased speed of make-readies and the number of sheets we can output per hour." QPA was founded a decade ago and is managed jointly by Danny O'Brien and Adam Lawrie, who employ eight staff.
The company specialises in trade work, brochures, calendars and annual reports for financial institutions and agencies, with average run lengths of 6,000 copies.
It also runs a four-colour Sakurai press, which was installed to work in conjunction with the Komori machine.
O'Brien commented: "The move up to 29-inch from SRA2 means we can position ourselves outside the SRA2 box.
We will also be able to take on more work now and we can turn-around jobs so much faster.
The press really comes in to its own on heavy solids and is perfect for the high quality brochures we print.
The extra unit gives us the facility to seal on-line and eliminates any problems with marking.
We print on a range of stock thicknesses from 90g up to 400g mainly on coated paper." The press has been operational since the end of January and QPA has been fully utilising the CIP 3 equipment supplied.
Joe Murphy of Portman Graphics added: "QPA is yet again another example of Komori and Portman's commitment to the customer and supplier partnership. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
We have worked with Adam and Danny over the years and helped the company grow to where it is today - a print house where excellence is the norm.".
