Komori Shows 8 Offset Presses And
Systems At Drupa

Visitors to Drupa 08 will see Komori show a range of new technology, which is claimed will improve productivity and profitability, whilst reducing the environmental load of print.

With 30 demonstrations each day on the company's 2,000 square metre stand in hall 15 at Drupa 2008, Komori said it will present five systems that will showcase its most advanced printing systems - with eight offset presses ranging in size from the small format Spica 529P up to the System 38S 16-page web press Drupa will also see the launch of Komori's latest LS technology and the KHS-AI 'intelligent' print start system

Komori commented that its presence at Drupa 2008 will focus on what it considers to be the five most important issues facing today's printing industry, such as extra added value, one-pass high productivity, on demand product change-overs, flexible multi-print and the preservation of the environment.

Central to the five demonstration theatres will be Komori's Donet Zone, which will form the centre for Komori's JDF workflow.

JDF management of all Drupa presses, using three MIS vendors, will be networked through Komori's K-Station, which is said to provide a bi-directional interface moving digital data throughout the production process.

When used in conjunction with the software systems of the company's job management partners, information is sent from the press back through K-Station and provides real-time press productivity and pressroom management data, it is claimed.

The Donet Zone is also said to provide visitors off-press demonstration opportunities to run through all the latest Komori network and integration software through a stand-alone Print Quality Control (PQC) console, including the new KHS-AI print start system and three different JDF programmes from Komori's three MIS partners.

Komori said that the KHS-AI 'intelligence' on sheet fed presses enables faster make-readies and job change-overs than the previous KHS systems, as it has a self-learning function that memorises any changes that the operator makes to CIP4 download information and uses that for subsequent jobs.

Also to be exhibited at Drupa 2008 will be the Lithrone SX629 press with in-line cold foiling, UV coating and embossing, as well as the Lithrone SX640 and coater, which is a new addition to the LS40 range.

It is said to have a higher speed, larger sheet size and, through Komori's new KHS-AI fast print start system, it is able to achieve quicker job change-overs.

At the show will also be Komori's System 38S 16-page web press with what is described by the company as a high speed single chopper folder and, for the first time with Komori, a flying paster, integrated in-feed, web guides and cut-off control.

Job change over is improved with KHS-AI link and sequence control, which is claimed to allow multiple job change-overs.

Komori added that its PQA-W system will ensure that all levels of quality are monitored during make-ready and production.

At Drupa will be the Lithrone S540 press that now features software and mechanical upgrades to capitalise on the new KHS-AI system, whilst the Lithrone S529 also has new features and software for quicker change-overs, which is said to be made possible by the new KHS-AI fast print start system.

New print quality assessment systems from the company on its web and sheetfed presses will be highlighted, such as the PQA-W on the System 38S, which has been upgraded and fully integrated in to the KHS-AI LINK.

PQA-S has been introduced on the Lithrone S40 presses for the first time.

Komori will also launch its Videoscope monitoring system, which is said to show real-time details of the running conditions in key zones. Request a free brochure from Komori UK ...
