New envelope inserters on show at Ipex 2010
KAS Paper Systems will exhibit envelope inserters from the bespoke range of Mailmaster mailing systems on stand 18-E820 at the Ipex 2010 exhibition.
The Mailmaster 465HS, which inserts into envelope sizes between DL and over-sized C4 at claimed speeds of up to 6,000 completed envelopes an hour, and the Mailmaster 565HS, which inserts into envelope sizes up to C5 at speeds of over 7,000 per hour, benefit from ease of operation and quick change-over.
KAS will demonstrate additional features for those systems, including sheet feeders with accumulation and folding in-line, OMR, BCR or 2D reading facilities, error divert, camera reading technology on the input and output control integrity, touch-screen control, management information in-line stapling and address printing on-line.
A Mailmaster 465HS will be shown with a corner stapler module incorporated into the envelope inserting line.
A sheet feeder feeds and accumulates sheets according to the coding printed on the documents and will also signal which sheets need to be stapled together.
Multiple stapled sets intermingled with unstapled documents can be grouped together for one envelope, if required.
Another of the Mailmaster enveloping systems will incorporate a printer with addressing software to address envelopes online after sealing.
Where the documents inside are also personalised the reading equipment on the KAS primary document feeder reads the customer reference in a pre-printed code and tracks it through the Mailmaster.
The reference is passed onto the printer which finds the relevant address and prints it on the envelope.
Ipex 2010 will also be the venue for the UK launch of the KAS production folder for documents with plastic cards attached.
It can either be used as a stand-alone unit in-line to equipment that matches and attaches cards to documents, or as a bridge between such equipment as the KAS range of envelope inserters.
Cycling up to a claimed 3,500 per hour, it can handle documents with one to four cards producing either a half, Z or C fold.
Also to be showcased at Ipex 2010 will be the Mailmaster Compact C4 Enveloper, an entry level DL to C4 system, which not only provides a lower price option but its smaller footprint helps to overcome space issues, said KAS Paper Systems.
It is supplied in a fixed configuration, comprising of a sheet feeder folder, two insert feeders and a hand feed position, with the possibility of one additional feeder.
It envelopes at speeds up to 5,000 an hour, inserting up to 12mm into a C4 envelope, with a duty cycle of over 500,000 per month.
It has many of the features of the existing Mailmaster 465HS, including a claimed quick change-over between jobs, touch-screen control, folding facility, feeders that will handle from a single sheet to a 7mm book and optional OMR or barcode reading.
The KAS Mailwrap polywrapper has been developed to fill a gap in the market for printers and direct mail companies to upgrade from lower speed equipment without having to invest in high speed polywrappers at greater cost.
It handles from CD width to over A4 with a maximum speed of 6,000 packs per hour.
The Mailwrap has similar feeders to the Mailmaster 465HS range, giving further flexibility, because it is possible to buy systems where feeders are interchangeable between the polywrapper and envelope inserter.
KAS Paper Systems said it will have a line-up of print finishing equipment at Ipex, which have been designed specifically to finish digitally printed material, as well as litho work.
They are distributed in the UK by Ashgate Automation.
The Creasematic range of programmable creasers will also be shown, including the Auto50 SRA3 suction feed model, which is said to be capable of up to 7,000 sheets per hour and the CM150 model, which is stream fed by hand.
Both models feature a rotary perforator facility.
The KAS Crease Fold single sheet card folder will be demonstrated on-line to the Creasematic Auto 50 creasers.
The Crease Fold automatically produces a single fold on cards creased on the Creasematic or other manufacturers' creasers.
The Kasfold Sprint 3000 bookletmaker and trimmer will also be displayed, producing booklets at up to 1,500 per hour.
The Sprint 3000 features a fold system, designed to eliminate marking on digitally printed stocks.
