KBA is demonstrating its product range across diverse niche markets that it said rarely enter the spotlight.

KBA is demonstrating its product range across diverse niche markets that it said rarely enter the spotlight.

Prior to Drupa, for example, a major two-month event for the world's securities printers, Banknote Horizons was staged in Switzerland.

KBA said it offered its subsidiary KBA-Giori, which is also represented on the KBA stand in Dusseldorf, a platform to promote its latest presses and systems for printing banknotes and securities.

Another KBA subsidiary, metal-decorating specialist Bauer+Kunzi, based in Ditzingen near Stuttgart, is demonstrating its know-how in Hall 16 at Drupa on presses based on large-format Rapidas.

And in Drupa Hall 11, KBA's newest subsidiary, Metronic, is showing a Genius 52 UV press for printing plastic cards and film alongside a Universys automatic card transport and personalisation system.

It is a brief insight into its broad product range in UV offset and ID labelling technologies such as inkjet, laser and hot stamping.

KBA said it is confident that the acquisition of Metronic will deliver medium-term synergy effects for its sheetfed, web offset and security presses.

It believes that Metronic would also smooth KBA's entry into inkjet-based digital print, which management believes offers the greatest potential of all digital print technologies.
