Once again, Spanish printers at Drupa have shown a preference for KBA technology reported the German press manufacturer.

Once again, Spanish printers at Drupa have shown a preference for KBA technology reported the German press manufacturer.

Early next year a Rapida 105 five-colour machine will be delivered to Oficio Grafico in Rafelbunyol, near Valencia, where the reliability of an existing Rapida 104 materially influenced the choice of a new press said KBA.

Oficio Grafico prints fine art books and pictorial volumes along with brochures for the furniture and automotive industries.

Book printer Graficas Rogar in Navalcarnero (Madrid) is one of the country's biggest printing operations and currently boasts a grand total of 27 medium-format and large-format printing units.

The purchase of a new press was prompted by bottlenecks in production and the decision to expand the product range to include dictionaries.

The firm has ordered a Rapida 162a four-colour with automatically convertible perfecting, which KBA claimed, is the only press on the market that can output high-volume full-colour books and 2/2 dictionaries.

Alfer, a Spanish commercial printing house based in Mos (Pontevedra), Galicia, is an established user of the KBA 74 Karat press.

The company also operates a Rapida 104 five-colour and has now signed a contract for a Rapida 105 Universal six-colour hybrid coater press, which is scheduled, for delivery in November.

Alfer will use the new B1 press to expand the coating options it can offer its customers.

It can already print on various types of plastic with the 74 Karat.
