World's Largest Sheet Fed UV Press First For UK
The first UK Rapida 205, KBA's 'Super XXL' format sheetfed press, has been ordered by Augustus Martin and will be the largest sheetfed press ever installed in the UK, claimed press manufacturer KBA.
In an investment of £4m ($5m), the four-colour Rapida 205 is fitted with a coater, dryer and plastic plus CX package enabling the press to print on a variety of substrates.
To be delivered early in 2005, KBA believes the Rapida 205 represents a benchmark in super-large format printing at speeds of up to 11,000 sheets per hour.
The new investment will deliver benefits to Capital Print clients in terms of efficiency, flexibility and the ability to print on a wide range of paper, board and plastics.

For Capital Print, a long-term MAN Roland house, the Rapida 205 order indicates a switch in favour of KBA's large format and its history of large format success with the Rapida 162 series, believes the company.
"We have nothing against MAN Roland," said Capital Print managing director David Gill, "but KBA can offer us the various sizes of presses we require for the future." He continued: "The Rapida 205 is yet another element in our three-year strategy to provide one of the most modern and efficient printing facilities in the UK.
The relocation to our current new premises has been a mammoth task and now that has been completed we can concentrate on providing our clients with an enhanced service." KBA UK managing director Christian Knapp said: "I am delighted to have convinced David Gill and his technical team to choose KBA.
This has been an 18-month project and naturally I am very pleased with the outcome.
David Gill and I are now working on a strategic plan that will include the arrival of further KBA presses over the next three-year period." David Carey, who heads up the sales team at Capital Print, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for members of the staff at Capital.
As we expand we are constantly looking to recruit top-quality staff and this wonderful new equipment will make that task easier." Capital Print's new site enables the company to plan separate litho, screen and digital printing areas, a CTP department, computerised storage and warehousing facilities and comfortable client suites.
The new headquarters are situated close to road and rail connections.
Capital Print plans a three-day open day in September with a guest list of over 500 people. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
