Chinese printers Wing Hung and its affiliated company Shore To Shore (STS) have signed contracts with Koenig and Bauer (KBA) for another four Rapida sheetfed offset presses The dynamic focus of the KBA customer on the growth centres of the international textile industry is also enabling the KBA to boost the presence of the Rapidas in countries in which thje company believes they have been rather under-represented

Besides supplying its facilities in Dakar (Bangladesh), Chennai (India) and Istanbul (Turkey), STS has earmarked one of the latest presses for its operations in Colombo (Sri Lanka) - the first KBA Rapida to come into service in the country.

With a top speed of 15,000 sheets per hour (sph), the Rapida 105 universal in format 72 x 105 cm possesses six printing units, a coating tower and an extended delivery, and is to be used at STS to print on both paper and board.

Consequently, it has been fitted with non-stop systems for feeder and delivery, and additional sheet guiding elements between the units.

The list of features includes an Inkline ink supply system, the colour measurement and control system Densitronic S for quality assurance and documentation, and Logotronic basic to enable primary data from pre-press to be used directly for press pre-setting and job records.

With at present 20 Rapida presses (more than 80 printing units and 12 coating towers) and one 74 Karat, Wing Hung and STS combined is one of the largest KBA sheetfed offset users in the world.

The flexibility to handle a broad range of substrates, provide quality monitoring and fast make-readies are for STS decisive criteria.

The new Rapida 105 universal in Colombo is to be deployed printing labels and packaging for the clothing industry.

That work is characterised by enormous substrate diversity, from paper to board and even plastics and by its frequently very short runs.

But with its Rapidas, STS is ideally equipped to satisfy such production demands, said KBA. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
