Two KBA Presses Go Into New Baltic
Printing Plant

Estonian print enterprise Printall and weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress have commemorated the 15th anniversary of their alliance with a new printing plant complete with two KBA presses.

Estonian print enterprise Printall and weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress have commemorated the 15th anniversary of their alliance with a new printing plant complete with two KBA presses Sited in the capital city, Tallinn, the biggest print operation in the country, employs over 200 people and posts annual sales of around 12m Euros ($14.6m)

Printall has now enhanced both its newspaper and its commercial firepower with a KBA Continent single-width tower press and a Compacta 215 16-page commercial press.

The 15m Euro ($18.2m) investment package included the new printing centre in Tallinn.

"Eesti Ekspress was the first independent newspaper in Estonia following the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1989," explained Hans H Luik, president of Ekspress Group.

"During the past 15 years Ekspress Group has evolved into one of the Baltic's premier publishing houses, and we realised that to expand any further we needed a bigger, more productive printing plant.

Our plans for the new site in Tallinn included an extensive technology upgrade and we went looking for suppliers with the farsightedness to offer us long-term support along with the necessary technical competence and product quality.

That is the main reason we chose KBA.

The successful inauguration of our new printing centre confirms that we made the right choice," commented Luik.

"We are delighted with the production start-up of the two presses," declared Printall chairman Andrus Takkin.

"We had planned to keep our existing press as a back-up, but that has proved unnecessary.

KBA's engineers were totally committed and quickly solved any problems that arose.

Our customers were thrilled by the speed with which the presses were brought on stream, and even more so by the excellent print quality that both presses deliver.

The Compacta 215 is already running 24 hours a day in four shifts, seven days a week.

By the end of the year we are aiming to run both our commercial presses in four shifts.

The productivity and flexibility of the new presses is beyond compare," added Takkin.

The company, founded in 1971, prints more than half the newspapers and magazine titles distributed nationwide and a large proportion of the advertising.

In 1998 the company was acquired by Ekspress Group, which pursues a policy of continuous expansion at home and abroad based on expertise and cutting-edge technology. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
