The company reported strong sales at Graph Expo with Unimac Graphics, a New Jersey commercial printer buying two new Rapida presses - a 142 56-inch eight-colour plus coater and perfector large-format sheetfed machine, as well as a Rapida 105 41-inch eight-colour perfector with tower coater.
The new presses will be Unimac's third and fourth KBA units.

Lithographix, a Los Angeles commercial printer, has agreed to purchase a super large format Rapida 205 81-inch six-colour sheetfed press with coater, said to be the first of its kind on the West Coast of America.
The new press is due to be delivered in the spring of 2005.
Challenge Printing Company, a premier Minnesota-based commercial sheetfed printer serving national commercial print, point-of-purchase, folding carton, UV print, and pressure sensitive labels, bought the first new Drupa-model Rapida 105 41-inch six-colour press with aqueous and UV coating from the show floor at Graph Expo 2004.
The new press was delivered immediately following the show.
KBA also finalised further press contracts to commercial printers, including a contract signed for the first Genius 52 in North America and a large format Rapida 142 56-inch eight-colour sheetfed press.
The centrepiece of the KBA stand was the new Rapida 105.
The newly designed Rapida 105 41-inch press during was demonstrated with fully automatic plate changes performed in less than four minutes, and was running at 18,000 sheets per hour (sph).
Engineers at KBA have expanded its capabilities to include a new extended control sheet infeed at the control console, a motor-driven shaftless feeder and an optional side lay-free infeed.
It is also claimed to print stock from 40lb paper to 48-point board.
It also features Qualitronic II in-line sheet inspection system, video register, Densitronic closed loop colour control and ink-temperature control for optimum print quality.
Another show highlight was the new Genius 52 20" offset press, dedicated to the short run colour market.
The press has claimed short make ready times of less than five minutes and the low startup waste of less than 10 sheets. Request free introductory details about products from KBA ...
