An investment set to maintain and extend the company's competitive edge is how Surrey printer, Aldridge Print Group has described its purchase of a new KBA Rapida 105 ten-unit sheetfed press.
Michael Freudenberg has been working in Dresden as a freelance painter and graphic artist since 1976.
His first abstract pictures and collages date from 1979.
The spectrum of Michael Freudenberg's work is extremely diverse.
The abstract landscapes chosen for this year's KBA calendar are characterised by their paste-like texture and the special method by which the paint layers are 'grazed' away said KBA.
They date from the mid-90s onwards and pay witness to a many-faceted process of transformation, often over the course of many years.
The calendar has been printed on a KBA Rapida 105 press with six printing units, coating tower and extended delivery at the KBA customer centre in Radebeul (Germany).
Several printing and finishes passes were necessary.
As a first step, the reverse of each calendar page was printed with an all-over black solid and coated with a dispersion varnish to ensure optimum flatness of the sheets throughout the printing and finishing of the actual images commented KBA.
To lend the reproductions particular brilliance, they were printed on white paper using the Aniva system.
The surrounding backgrounds were then printed in double black, before the final hybrid finishing with filigree gloss and matt effects in offset register quality created a surface with the authentic plasticity of Freudenberg's original oil paintings added the company.
The 12-page 48cm x 61cm calendar is supplied in a cardboard cover, which itself displays print and varnish finishing.
KBA said its users will receive copies of the calendar from their regional sales agencies by the end of the year.
Any remaining stocks can then be requested from the marketing department at KBA in Radebeul, for a charge covering postage and handling (Germany 10 Euros, all other countries 20 Euros). Request free introductory details about products from KBA ...
