First Shaftless Press Of Its Kind In Turkey
After running a KBA Compacta 215 and a Compacta 213, the Izmir-based Turkish printer Caglayan Basim-Yayin A.S.is investing in the first shaftless press of its kind in Turkey.
The new 50,000 copies per hour (cph) Compacta 215 at Sogapal will offer a 620mm cut-off and is designed for web widths between 420mm and 1,000mm.
Alongside an automatic ink supply, the press is equipped with KBA Drivetronic dedicated drives, a manual KBA Patras M reel transport system, KBA's Pastostar RC reelstand, four double printing units, automatic blanket washing, hot-air dryers and an automatically convertible F3-620L gripper folder with superstructure.
The new C215 will be the sixth KBA commercial web installation in Portugal since 2001, which represents a market share of some 67 per cent over that period claimed the German press manufacturer.
The flexibility of the C215 will enable Sogapal to play to its strengths on short and medium runs for the magazine and flyer markets, whereas its two big C618 counterparts will take over the business for the high-volume orders said KBA.
Founder Manuel Cruz made his first moves into the web offset scene with a second-hand 32-page press in 1997, adding a second 16-page press just a little later.
Today, the new company facility in Barcarena, a suburb of Lisbon, has a 16-page Compacta 215 and two 48-page Compacta 618 presses - none of them older than three years.
"We have come to know KBA as a reliable partner with top-class engineering and technology.
That made it very easy to finalise our latest investment decision.
With two 16-page and two 48-page presses, we will be ideally set up to handle every conceivable demand from our commercial web customers.
That is not only for the domestic market, because we are also looking to expand into Spain, France and Belgium," said Cruz. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
