Koenig and Bauer AG (KBA) has sold another 16-page Compacta 217 web press, this time to Druckhaus Bayreuth - the third Compacta 217 to be ordered by a German company since Drupa 2004 The Compacta 217 for Bayreuth is a right-left configuration and will feature a KBA Pastostar RC reel-stand, five printing units with semi-automatic and fully-automatic plate changing plus imprinter technology

Besides having a new P3 pin folder, a sheeter will be able to work stock up to 250gsm, said KBA.

The Compacta 217 replaces a Compacta 213 which was dismantled in 2004.

Ulrich Stetter, a Bayreuth director said: "We got to know the Compacta 217 at Drupa.

Detailed talks with KBA reinforced our positive overall impression of this high-performance press.

We will be continuing our philosophy of using stochastic screen technology with the Compacta 217 too in order to be able to offer our customers optimum quality and efficiency." Bayreuth's customer services ranges from consulting on the most economic method of communication through to printing and logistics.

It has a staff of 110 people and provides customers with a host of services to address pre-press needs, printing requirements in the sheet-fed, commercial and newspaper sectors in addition to handling finishing and logistics.

KBA added that Bayreuth's commercial web-offset operations have been served for a long time by a 32-page Compacta 408.

Having completed the changeover to stochastic screen technology for sheetfed presses, three years ago the change was made with the Compacta 408 too.

The company made the change because of the quality enhancements ? for instance, to achieve more photo-like results ? but also its desire to standardise industrial and economic production. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
