Machines

Since the B1 (40") Rapida 105 press was launched by German press manufacturer KBA, 54 lines with 305 printing units and 32 coaters have been delivered to sheetfed offset operations.

Since the B1 (40") Rapida 105 press was launched by German press manufacturer KBA at Drupa last October, 54 lines with 305 printing units and 32 coaters have been delivered to sheetfed offset operations across Europe, the Americas, North Africa and the Far East They include 12 presses with KBA's sidelay-free infeed and 10 with a perfecting capability for up to 5 over 5

Those and other new features have not only prompted the usual lift in domestic sales but have also boosted shipments abroad believes KBA.

By the end of May this year a total of 19 presses comprising 120 printing units and coaters will have been installed at German printing plants.

Seven feature sidelay-free infeed and six automatically convertible perfecting.

In the same period 28 presses with 155 printing units and 15 coaters will have been shipped to other parts of Europe and further orders have been placed by commercial and packaging printers in the USA, Russia, Algeria, Brazil and Hong Kong, added the company.

The 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) Rapida 105 was instrumental in enabling KBA to post double digit growth in sheetfed offset order bookings and sales in 2004 - a trend that continued in the first quarter of the current year the company commented the company.

The Rapida 105 is not only faster than its predecessor but also more automated, with 20 per cent more productive capacity than the earlier model, the 15,000sph Rapida 105 universal introduced seven years ago, said KBA.

In the company's opinion, the fact that the Rapida 105 universal is still one of the three most advanced German-built presses in that format said a lot about the pace at which the company has driven its innovation.

The latest Rapida 105, which targets the high end of the market, went in to serial production last summer.

Within a few months of its world debut, diverse press configurations were up and running at a string of print operations, meeting the rigorous expectations of users and developers alike.

Unlike other 18,000sph B1 presses unveiled at Drupa, which did not go in to serial production until April this year, the Rapida 105 is already a mature product in widespread operation and with proven flexibility, believes KBA. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
