Dirk Ackerknecht, managing director of Meinke Druck in Neuss, near Dusseldorf, has seized the initiative to improve his company's competitive advantage by installing a 14-unit KBA Raipda 105 press.
The press will arrive at the Pindar Preston factory in May following a 300 square metre extension to expand the pressroom and paper storage areas.
The press will be fitted with FAPL (fully automatic plate changing in three minutes for a 10-unit press), a Technotans automatic ink supply system and Densitronic S spectral image control, added the company.
The Rapida will be the first KBA press for Pindar Preston as it currently runs six Heidelberg 102 Speedmasters.
KBA UK managing director, Christian Knapp said: "The decision to order the Rapida 105 came at the end of exhaustive print trials in Austria and Germany and was based on a quality and productivity comparisons between KBA and other leading competitors.
