This year's Embax Print will see KBA's A3 Genius 52 and a 46 Karat digital offset presses, as well as the A2 Performa 66 and B2 half-format Performa 74.

The exhibition in Brno (Czech Republic) runs from May 17-20, where KBA will be represented at the biennial fair by its Czech subsidiary, Dobruka-based KBA-Grafitec, whose stand will be found in Hall F.

The presses at the show will be complemented by CTP pre-press from Presstek and the KBA machines will also be be on another Czech KBA agent's stand, Kloc, in the same hall.

The Performa series of sheetfed presses, which are to be presented in their new KBA design for the first time, will interest smaller and medium-size businesses active in classic multicolour commercial printing.

The Performa 66 (48.5cm x 66cm) is to be shown in action in a five-colour configuration.

For the B2 format,, KBA-Grafitec has chosen a six-colour version of the Performa 74.

The exhibition press is equipped additionally with a coating unit and an extended delivery accommodating a combined IR and hot-air dryer.

It will be printing posters on paper and postcards on a 240gsm light card, said KBA.

For printers using the widely popular 36cm x 52cm sheet format, the Genius 52 is set to be the fair highlight, believes the company.

The waterless press produces low wastage on keyless inking units and it is available in four and five-colour versions and has a footprint of nine square metres.

Targeting short to medium runs, the Genius 52 is claimed offers automatic plate changing as a guarantee for fast make-ready and convenient one-man operation, claimed KBA.

The 36cm x 46cm 46 Karat DI press will be demonstrated printing calendar images and posters of Czech film star Marek Vasut, who will be on the stand in person to add his autograph.

The Profire imaging heads from KBA's partner, Presstek, are said to permit a broader tonal range than comparable DI presses in that class.

The Czech and Slovakian Republics are already well represented on the list of 46 Karat presses in successful operation in many different countries, added the German press manufacturer.
