The Koenig and Bauer (KBA) group will be represented at the 10th Printing and Paper Industry Fair at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre in Istanbul from May 17-22.

KBA will be exhibiting on the two stands of its Turkish sheetfed offset and web press sales partners, Dereli Graphic - stand 503 - and that of Bojunga and Sava and - stand 504, both in Hall 5.

The German press manufacturer believes there is a renewed readiness to invest emerging in Turkey after a period of economic difficulties.

KBA sheetfed agents Dereli Graphic Matbaa Malzemeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AS will be showing a five-colour Rapida 105 universal press with coating tower and double-length extended delivery, printing high-quality posters and packaging on a wide variety of substrates.

The medium-format press, which offers a claimed maximum printing speed of 15,000 sheets per hour (sph), is equipped to handle board up to 1.2mm in thickness and counts semi-automatic plate changing among its features.

Despite the economic constraints of the past few years, KBA said it has been able to expand its sales of Rapida sheetfed presses in Turkey quite considerably.

Alongside the medium-format series, attention is also turning increasingly to the larger Rapida 142 and 162 models.

Increased investment in web offset technology is similarly evident.

For example, Caglayan Basim-Yayin AS, a printer in Izmir, has ordered the first 32-page Compacta 418 commercial web press in Turkey, complementing existing Compacta 215 and 213 installations.

KBA added that the interest of Turkish publishers in the company's newspaper presses, such as the comet series, confirmed that upward trend.
